Daycare Program from 12 months to 6 years
A play-based approach to children’s learning and development is the basis for our program planning and delivery of activities by well-trained staff. Our daycare program offers low child-teacher ratios, daily breakfast and nutritious snacks and lunch. It is the goal of our caregivers to provide each child with an environment in which they feel safe and nurtured. We will provide the activities and resources for this to be both a fun and learning experience.
Infant Room 12 - 18 months
Our program for children 12 – 18 months is very flexible, as we know each child has a slightly different schedule, depending on developmental needs, interests and capabilities. We respond to children’s needs and cues in an appropriate, timely, caring and consistent manner.
Play time activities promote development and learning in all aspects of the developmental domains. The children explore play materials and centers on their own, and are encouraged to participate in planned activities based on their interests and capabilities.
Teachers record each child’s eating, diapering, sleep times and other important information for parents to check at pick up time.
Toddler 19 months - 3 years
Children are prepared for entry into a Pre-school Room. We focus on building their independence. Weekly programs encourage all aspects of a child’s development. The day is full of various activities based on the children’s interests and abilities. We ensure that children have fun in a safe and educational environment.
Our environment allows the children to self-guide their learning and have access to a variety of play areas throughout their day. Children participate in many fun activities such as art, sensory play, sand & water play, building blocks, puzzles, creative/dramatic play, fine/gross motor activities, and reading. The classroom provides areas for the children to have quiet and relaxing time as needed. Children participate in daily outdoor activities weather permitting.
Preschool 3 – 4.5 years
Children learn best through play and exploration. We make sure every child in our care has access to materials and opportunities that encourage cognitive and social development. We encourage freedom of movement and choices. We foster creativity believing that every child is an artist. We offer yoga classes. Let your child grow with our dedicated staff holding child care supervisor certificates!
We created an environment where your child can develop at their own pace, with the guidance of proven and trusted principles:
-
Practical life: refines fine-motor skills and develops focus and concentration. It follows a sequence, fosters independence and develops good work habits.
-
Sensorial: Hands-on materials isolate one concept at a time and guide a child to distinguish sound, colour, size, weight, texture, shape, taste and smell.
-
Language: Language is taught through a variety of multi-sensory activities; visual and auditory. We have frequent librarian visits from Edmonton Public Library. We visit the library and have Reading with Parents events. Our children are well prepared for school.
-
Math: Mathematics is introduced individually as the child demonstrates interest and readiness. We match each child’s ability to the appropriate materials so that his/her learning experiences are positive, rewarding and provide optimum learning at each stage of development.
-
Science & Culture: Science, history and geography are introduced and developed through materials that sharpen a child’s powers of observation and understanding of the world around them. They learn about people and flags of distant countries, and the cultural similarities that unite all people. Children work with puzzles and matching picture/word cards to learn the parts of flowers, trees, animals and insects. They also learn about growth cycles and plant seeds and observe the growing process.
-
Art & Music: Children are encouraged to express themselves creatively in everything they do, from painting, sculpture, singing and dancing. A variety of materials are always available for creative expression including crayons, paints, papers, markers, collage materials, glue, scissors, etc. Children engage in activities which help to develop fine motor skills and creativity (gluing, cutting skills, hole punching, tying and taping)
-
Care of Self include such activities as washing hands and face, dressing themselves (zippers, buttons, snaps, etc.) tying/fastening their shoes, blowing their nose, pouring themselves a glass of water, or helping to prepare a snack.
-
Care of the Environment – tidying up after oneself, sweeping the floor, washing a table, wiping a spill, setting the table for meals and activities, and making the environment beautiful by decorating classrooms for special occasions.
-
Care of Others – watering plants, caring for a garden, feeding of birds and helping other children in the classroom.
-
Grace and Courtesy – use of manners, respect for others, kindness and empathy.
Kinder 4.5 – 6 years
Our Kinder program bridges the gap between preschool and Grade 1, providing children with a rich and stimulating environment that builds confidence, curiosity and a genuine love of learning. With a strong foundation in play-based exploration, children are guided toward more structured thinking and academic readiness while continuing to grow socially and emotionally at their own pace.
Our dedicated staff holding child care supervisor certificates create a warm and nurturing classroom where children feel empowered to take on new challenges. We foster independence, critical thinking and collaboration — the essential skills every child needs as they step into their school journey.
Literacy & Language: Children build on their reading and writing foundations through multi-sensory activities, storytelling, journaling and group discussions. We continue our partnership with Edmonton Public Library through regular librarian visits and Reading with Parents events. Children leave our Kinder program as confident communicators, ready for the demands of Grade 1.
Mathematics & Logic: Hands-on materials and guided exploration introduce children to number concepts, patterns, measurement, sorting and early problem solving. Activities are matched to each child's readiness, ensuring a positive and rewarding learning experience at every stage.
Science & Discovery: Children deepen their understanding of the natural world through observation, experimentation and inquiry. From planting and observing growth cycles to exploring simple science concepts, we nurture a natural curiosity about how things work.
Art, Music & Movement: Creative expression remains central to our Kinder program. Children engage in painting, sculpture, drama, singing and dance. We offer yoga classes to support mindfulness, body awareness and emotional regulation.
Social & Emotional Development: Grace, courtesy and care for others are woven into every part of our day. Children practice conflict resolution, empathy and teamwork, building the social skills they will carry with them throughout their lives.
Children in our Kinder program participate in daily outdoor activities weather permitting, and enjoy a nutritious daily breakfast, lunch and snacks in a welcoming community setting.
